Project Spotlight: Trusted Electrical Upgrade in Georgetown, Delaware

At Expert Wire, we recently had the pleasure of serving Barry and his family in Georgetown, DE. Barry shared that he’s no stranger to home projects—he works at Ace Hardware and is familiar with installing lights and other devices. However, when it came to adding a shower light that required new wiring, he wanted a professional solution his wife would feel confident about. With his usual electrician unavailable, Barry turned to the Experts.
Our licensed electrician, Travis, got to work. Barry requested that the new recessed shower light operate in tandem with the existing vanity light—giving the bathroom a clean, functional lighting solution with a single switch.
While on site, Travis performed a safety check of the electrical system and noted a few issues:
A 200 amp Homeline panel installed in 2008 with non-listed Siemens breakers.
AFCI breakers that needed replacement.
Outdated smoke detectors (also from 2008) that were hardwired and due for an upgrade.
Devices throughout the home that were not tamper-resistant, as required in modern builds.
Scope of Work Completed:
Installed a recessed shower light tied to the vanity switch.
Replaced 2 AFCI breakers.
Replaced 3 double-pole breakers with properly listed ones for the panel.
Barry was beyond pleased with the results—so much so, he said there wasn’t enough space in the review box to fully express his satisfaction!

There isn't sufficient space here to express my complete satisfaction with my electrician, Travis, and Racheal, the dispatcher, who was polite and answered every question I had with expertise before Travis's arrival. The work done by Travis was done exactly as I had imagined, and the clean-up was also handled with careful consideration of my home and its contents. Be it known that this is a common occurrence, and NOT meeting code. Some breakers will fit in a different panel. However, they may not meet the UL listing for the panel, and your homeowners' insurance may be affected should there be a serious electrical accident.
